Oh yeah. Definite difference. My world does not have the superior food that your New York has. I don't even know how I survived without it to be honest.
[ Kate Bishop the Queen of Tacky Jokes. He's gotten used to it. It's just another reason he loves her. The worst jokes that you could possibly hear or tell someone. She's got them down. Derek's never been a guy of comedy, but she never fails to get even the slightest smile from him with her terrible jokes. Maybe it's just the woman telling them and not so much the jokes themselves. (Never mind the fact that her humor is terribly close to Stiles, but he prefers not to acknowledge that). ]
I'm glad I'm here too. [ He could make a joke that she's happy he's here cause she gets to lay on him, but he doesn't. Because when Kate is sincere then she deserves the same sentiment back in his eyes. ] No place I'd rather be.
Damn right. Sorry, but Earth-616 as we've supposedly been labeled? The best of the Earths, best of the New Yorks. Don't even try to deny it.
[ Though in Kate's head, those words are less of a joke and more like complete honesty. But leave it to Kate to switch easily into bragging mode, declaring her own whatever as ruling superiority. She'd brag about just having a more awesome slice of cheese on her burger if it came to that.
But she sees the subtle honesty of his smile, prompting her own to widen as she peers down at him with a little pride in having him here with her. ] Good. [ She says it with conviction, but with a little uncertainty in her voice all the same. ] It would have really sucked if you decided to back out now.
[ She's very good at bragging. Even if it's not something that she should necessarily be bragging about. But Kate does not miss a beat sometimes when it comes to these situations. She will puff her chest and make sure he knows exactly who is the best. Which is when he usually goes quiet and sort of just smiles stupidly at her. He gives her a nod to her boasting about her New York. She lost him around Earth-616, but that's fine. He's still learning things about her world. ]
Never. [ He'll miss Cora, but he knows she can take care of herself. She stopped needing Derek around when they were kids. Scott's a good Alpha and he can handle Beacon Hills and everything there. He doesn't need Derek swooping in to lend a hand every now and again. ] You're stuck with me for however long you want. Don't you back out now.
[ Kate cracks a smile, a silly sort of grin with all her teeth, beaming a little as she takes a moment to gaze over him. ]
However long I want, huh?
[ Her fingers dance on his chest, rising and falling as she taps on the curves of his muscle. She traces the lines without gazing down, his body already memorized in her mind and her eyes focused on his, drawn in by the very sight of him, of him being in her world. All of this had felt fleeting to the very end in Eudio, but now — she has him here in her world, giving it all a better sense of permanence.
Just when did she get so enamored with this man? With all his flaws and pain, with his harsh lines and soft smiles. Kate had long since stopped wanting to carry the weight of someone else around on her back, and yet she didn't mind placing all of his on there and sharing it with him.
The playfulness of her expression eases down, a more passionate light dancing in her eyes. Sliding her body more comfortably on his, seating over his thighs, she leans down, long hair falling over his cheeks, before kissing him, the softness of her lips saying much more than she's ever brave enough to say. ]
